In February 2022 our family had the pleasure of working with John Steiner owner of MX Track Builders. Me not being a dirt bike racer I wasn’t too sure what detailed features we wanted. What we did know is we wanted the track to have technical features to help my kids improve their riding skills. It just so happened my kids dirt bike coach (Justin Buckelew) was at my house the morning MX Track Builders arrived. Justin was able to give John a good idea as to where the kids riding levels were and what features could be used to improve their skill level.
In 5 days, John and team took our words and ideas and made them a reality. It was amazing to see the transformation of 4 plus acres of raw desert quickly turn into a professional dirt bike track. When we decided to build a track, we didn’t really know where to start. We talked to our local tracks, we met with several local excavation companies, and we made calls to various outfits holding themselves out as track builders online, but hit a lot of dead ends… until we met John. John Steiner and his team at MX Track Builders were amazing from day one. We are a family of five, ranging from 7 to 40, with a wide range of skillsets. We all ride, but at vastly different levels, and we wanted a track we could all enjoy… with a mix of technical turns, rollers, small jumps, and big jumps that the less aggressive riders could still roll over. We explained our 3.5-acre vision to John and immediately felt comfortable that he understood what we were looking for. After a couple weeks of talking we decided to pull the trigger. After the second day of a five day build I stood on top of the first major feature and felt like a kid on Christmas. I couldn’t believe it. On the second day I realized we couldn’t have made a better choice in a track builder, and I knew at that moment we were going to get an unbelievable outcome after five days of work.
We’ve now had the track about four months and have put at least 50 rides on it. We’ve hosted beginners, advanced riders, and two local pro riders; every rider from beginner to pro came off the track smiling ear to ear. The track layout is awesome, and John and his team were amazing to work with. We gave John full creative control on the 3.5-acre parcel and with our wish list in mind, he designed a track we could only dream about. John even helped us choose the equipment that would be best for ongoing maintenance. We will definitely be looking to have John and his team back in the future.

First let me say I was nervous about spending the money and also was concerned that I wouldn’t end up with what I really wanted. I am a DIY guy with a decent knack for running large equipment and tearing up yards. All I can say is thank God I didn’t try to do it myself. John built a track that is safe for beginners and still fun for advanced riders (that is exactly what I asked for). It exceeded all my expectations.
John and his crew were fast, efficient, and spot on with both the outcome and cost. I did spend 30% more than what I thought I wanted to spend, but I’m very glad I did. I was going to go for a 3-day and instead went to a 5-day build, now I wish I had gone even larger. Also, they are great guys to work with both professional as well as personable.
The finished track is around 5-acres and turned out beautiful as you can see from the drone footage. The drainage works well even during heavy rains. My wife has also enjoyed landscaping the infield with plants and running some equipment to create a camp spot in the infield. What you cannot see is the joy this has brought myself and family during a very bleak time in the world. It is our own private getaway and just what we needed to maintain a good attitude over the summer and fall.
If you are even considering it, my advice to you is the following:
Call John and schedule an appointment
Get a REAL MAX spend, make it hurt even, you will thank me later
Listen to John and give him creative freedom (you aren’t a better track designer than him)
Schedule the build
Ride and smile any time permanently!

I’m not sure where to start. I contacted MX Track Builders in mid-March, within two weeks John called me, went over the process. After a few calls back and forth he proposed his plan, price and his availability, I jumped. I won’t lie I was a little hesitant at first, but this was something I have wanted for a very long time. On the 4th of May John arrived on site and all of the hesitation was gone. He walked me through the entire plan from, start to finish, he was very honest and extremely helpful from the first flag he stuck in the ground to the last track-marker we put on the track. I’m not sure if all costumers follow along throughout the entire project, but I did, as well as my 5-year-old son. At one point John had him helping with measurements for the lanes (my son thought it was the coolest thing on the planet.) John went above and beyond the entire time he was here, in just three days he transformed my backyard into the most amazing mx track I could have ever imagined. He made sure it was safe enough for my son, and wife, but also made sure it was fun for myself as I have been riding my entire life. He was here to build a track, for a stranger he had never met, but in the three days he was here I honestly gained more than an awesome track, I gained a friend. Not only did he show up every morning and work all day, but he stayed later, hung out with the family, and even rode with everyone the last two days, which was extremely cool. If you’re thinking about having a track built, call John. I promise you will not be disappointed.

New Jersey Motorsports Park is a 700-acre world-renowned facility that is located in the most densely populated state in the country. Just plain fun! When we were considering building a track, I had no idea that it would wind up on MX Track Builders website. I wanted to build a private track that was challenging but safe. After talking with John, I was confident that his experience is what we needed. I conveyed to John that the project was time sensitive as the soil would lose its moisture in the later spring. John arranged to get here in a timely manner and with plenty of moisture still in the soil for compaction. John even stayed an extra day to finish the project after having an excavator breakdown.
