Making motocross dreams come true on a budget

Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure does help sometimes. Our customer in Mason, Michigan (a city to the south of Lansing in Ingham County), is an avid motocross rider who has long desired to own a custom track. He won big while playing a sports betting app and two weeks later he contacted MX Track Builders and the rest, as they say, is history. But wait! This wasn’t one of those spared-no-expense projects. The customer had a specific dollar amount in mind. As done with all clients, we shaped a build plan around his budget.

This project was a one-person operation. MX Track Builders owner John Steiner traveled to Mason, Michigan and created a 1.3-acre track in three days with a bulldozer. Normally it would have required a one-two punch of an excavator/bulldozer combination, but we remained budget conscious. Thanks to a hill in the customer’s backyard, all of the dirt was generated on site. The first day was spent walking the site and using marking flags to create an outline of the track. The second day involved excavating the track infields and getting soil pushed into place. By the end of the third day the track had been shaped and compacted into its finished form and lined with track markers for that official look. This backyard track was loaded with great features including a step-up, step-down, camelback, rollers, a few tabletops and a double jump. The undulating terrain and unique topography were favorable and challenging for all skill levels. It was so fun, in fact, that Steiner rode the track after putting on the finishing touches.

The customer was more than pleased with the process. “John Steiner walked me through the plan from start to finish. He was very honest and extremely helpful from the first flag he stuck in the ground to the last track marker we put in. John went above and beyond the entire time he was here. In just three days he transformed my backyard into the most amazing motocross track I could have ever imagined. He made sure it was safe enough for my son and wife to ride, but also fun for myself, as I have been riding my entire life. If you’re thinking about having a track built, call John. I promise you will not be disappointed.”

We made this customer’s dream become a reality for $15,000. All it takes is a conversation to put any hesitation to rest and answer any questions. Trust us when we say that you don’t need to win the lottery to own your ultimate track.
