One man’s dream of owning a motocross track becomes a reality in Kentucky

Rick Lehman grew up racing on two wheels, albeit not with an engine attached to the frame. Lehman was a BMX and mountain bike racer, but like so many of us was drawn to dirt bikes. A few years ago, Rick left Arizona and set his sights on western Kentucky. He had a goal in mind – build a motocross track. That’s where MX Track Builders enters the story. Rick gave us 5.5 acres of beautiful land to work with. Over the course of one week (plus an additional day after a machine went down), we made Lehman’s dream a reality.

Valentine Valley MX was born, but not before we moved 10,000 cubic yards of dirt and installed 220 feet of drainage culvert. The track spanned just over 0.5 mile in length and contained many top features. From a step up to a step down, various doubles, tabletops, a tricky roller section and technical S-turns, it had the “flow” that riders love. In fact, Valentine Valley MX started out as a private track, but received so much interest from other riders that Rick turned it into a club open to the public.

Lehman offered his seal of approval. “I was extremely pleased with MX Track Builders from the start of the build to the finished product. John [Steiner] and his team listened to my requests and ideas and incorporated their many years of experience to create what has become the ultimate private track. John was responsive from the discussion to the bid and kept me informed every step of the way. I would highly encourage anyone looking to have a track built to reach out to MX Track Builders. We definitely plan to do more business down the road and would call MX Track Builders back for any future track updates when needed."
